Report: Construction of Nord Stream-2 seen restarting on Saturday
MOSCOW, Dec 1 (PRIME) -- Nord Stream 2 AG, the operator of Russian gas pipeline project Nord Stream-2, will resume construction on Saturday and will most probably use the Akademik Chersky vessel, Bloomberg reported on Tuesday, citing an official of the Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency of Germany.
The Nord Stream-2 project envisages construction of two lines of a natural gas pipeline with an annual capacity of up to 55 billion cubic meters, running from the Russian shore to Germany under the Baltic Sea. Russian gas giant Gazprom is implementing the project together with Germany’s E.ON and BASF, Royal Dutch Shell, Austria’s OMV, and France’s Engie.
In October, the U.S. extended sanctions against the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline to include the companies that upgrade or install equipment on the ships laying the pipeline.
